Welcome to our home page as we celebrate our 22nd concert season. Our tradition of providing entertaining performances for young and old alike and featuring outstanding guest artists continues this season with our opening concert on Sunday, November 8, 2009, "Sentimental Journey," featuring the fabulous vocal Trio "Lady Luck." Come and join us for a trip down memory lane.
Since 1987, the Plainville Wind Ensemble has been performing for audiences as ambassadors of Wind Ensemble and Jazz music. An all-volunteer adult ensemble, the musicians hail from many of the towns and cities throughout Connecticut. The wind emsemble performs throughout CT and New York. Past guest artists and conductors include Greg Caputo, Fran Wall, Mark McNally, Dr. Daniel D'Addio, Keith Brion, Lewis J. Buckley and special guest performer and honorary board member John Philip Sousa IV. The ensemble is currently under the direction of Rick Lawrence who has an outstanding history of conducting and arranging music for community bands.

Our season continues on Sunday, March 7, 2010 at the Tabernacle Church in Southington, CT with the Center Stage Jazz and Wind Ensemble in collaboration presenting "From Basie to Gershwin," a blend of jazz and music for the symphonic wind ensemble.
Sunday, May 16, 2010 follows with "Music from Stage and Screen" at the Southington High School in Southington, CT. This concert will feature some of the most well known music of Broadway and Hollywood. This is a great concert for "music sleuths" - Be on the lookout for any surprises in this concert!
As the weather improves, you will find us at the lovely Norton Park in Plainville, CT, where we are slated to dedicate the new outdoor music facility. Bring your friends and family, blankets and chairs, and even a picnic supper to enjoy "Pops in the Park" on Tuesday, June 8, 2010.
One of the big highlights of the year is our Third John Philip Sousa Festival of Bands on Saturday, June 12, 2010, at Seth Thomas Park in Thomaston, where you can experience the music of six concert bands from various towns throughout New England performing throughout the day.
The Center Stage Jazz, a program of the Plainville Wind Ensemble, is the highlight of our annual fund raiser, "Dancing in the Stars," on Friday, February 12, 2010. This talented band had the dance floor hopping all night in February 2009.
