| Charlie and I were so pleased to receive the reminder about the concert last Sunday. We really enjoyed it and were very impressed at how great the band sounds. The selections were really wonderful and brought back memories. We are already planning to put on our dancing shoes for the Feb. event! Keep us posted because "seniors" need reminders. A Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours. ~Bette & Charlie, ragarding November 8, 2009 concert |
| I want to thank you (Kathie) and Rick for the opportunity to play with the group. The pride and comaraderie and friendship is just great. Rick, you bring back a lot of memories from my college days and should be commended for your professionalism. ~Joel Cohen, Plainville Wind Ensemble 2009 |
| I would again like to applaud each and every one of you for a wonderful performance today. I hope you had as much fun as I did. Great job guys. See you on the 17th. ~Rick Lawrence, Plainville Wind Ensebmle Director, regarding November 8, 2009 concert |
The Lake George Festival of Bands was so impressive! Mark had a standing ovation which he deserved twofold! Our soloists were outstanding and the rest of us performed so tight that we played as a solid ensemble; and the most fun was watching those who joined in the festival group and were conducted by each of the conductors! Too much fun! ~Kathleen Marsan, Band Manager, Plainville Wind Ensemble, regarding Lake George concert 2009 |
| On behalf of Darlene Murtado, the Executive Director, and the entire Literacy Volunteers of Central CT staff, I would like to thank you for generously donating the proceeds from your concert to our organization. With these funds, we were able to purchase a digital camera which we otherwise would not have been able to. Thanks again! ~Kathleen McLeon, Literacy Volunteers of Central CT, regarding May 5, 2009 concert |
| We cannot express enough our appreciation to those folks who helped set up for the dance (Susie, Donna, Sara Marsan and Mae) and Dave Z., Paul Marsan, Christine and John Chin (for lugging in all that equipment!) and to Rich S. for all the stands! Thank you Phyllis, Susie, Donna and Leslie for "manning" the front tables and to those who donated door prizes. This dance was a total success. It was evident in the number of people on the dance floor and all those who came up to us throughout the dance telling us how wonderful you all sounded. This Jazz ensemble has grown tighter, has great timing and the exuberance is contagious! Our soloists and MC were the "darlings of the night!" ~Rick and Kathie, regarding February 13, 2009 dance fundraiser |
| Thanks for inviting the Sea Cadets to participate in your concert. The Cadets enjoy performing Color Guard duty. ~Dave, Sea Cadets, regarding November 9, 2008 concert |
| Thank you for a wonderful performance. CCSU and all attendees are so fortunate to have The Plainville Wind Ensemble share its talents for such terrific causes. Can't wait until next year...each year gets better & better. ~Peggy Porter, Veterans Appreciation Organization, regarding November 9,2008 concert |
We enjoyed the November 9 concert at C.C.S.U. and look forward to future performances. |
I received so many compliments and kudos from the people who attended the Block Party that I needed to pass them on to you! The compliments ranged from "this group is amazing" to "love the music." This group sounded tight and got stronger with each number we performed! Thank you for a good performance and enjoyable concert!...I had a great time! |
| As I was walking around and listening to the group, I was stopped by several people asking me questions about the group or passing on their compliments. The best ones came from folks who have heard the Jazz group before and said how impressed they were that this group gets better and better each year! Not bad for the first concert of the season! ~Your biggest fan, Kathie, Plainville, regarding CSJ October 18, 2008 concert |
It is with a great deal of pride that I send you this letter thanking each and everyone for your superb performance at Lake George last Saturday. We had many, many great comments from the audience many of whom were musicians from the various bands. One of the greatest compliments was..."I heard you guys last year and wanted to make sure I didn't miss your performance this year. It was even better than last year!" Something nice to hang your hat on (if you have a hat!) I hope that everyone had a good time. I know I did! I am looking forward to getting back with you guys soon. We have all new music to dive into. Again, thanks for your professional attitudes and enthusiasm. |
To the Plainville Wind Ensemble; Thank-you for the honor of supporting Reading Well for Kids on Tuesday
evening. I had a wonderful time, the music was amazing, you are a very talented
bunch and love what you are doing and that comes out in your concerts. Reading Well for Kids had a warm reception with both your audience and
the members of both orchestras. We received 78 books, $3 in the donation jar and raised $40 with the bookmarkers. But more importantly we have new contacts of people that |
Hello Kathy, Rick and the entire Plainville Wind Ensemble. Thank you all very much for a great show. I was really impressed with the band's performance. Everyone has made great strides in their playing. I also appreciated your professional consideration of me. Vivian really is enjoying the flowers. Unfortunately, Vivian is still in the hospital. She is doing her best to recover from this extreme case of a viral infection in her lungs. I hope that the Cancer Foundation will be able to put the $100 from the drum sales to good use. I was happy to help out. Everyone in the Plainville Wind Ensemble has my respect; you are all wonderful people!! Play on! |
A big heart-felt THANK YOU to the Plainville Wind Ensemble. A total of $510 was raised at the donation table, and $105 from the drum sticks signed by Greg Caputo (all monies went to the Plainville Chapter of the American Cancer Society). Please extend our thanks to the entire group from us! All I can say is, Wow. (pertaining to our April 8, 2008 performance, "Big Band Spectacular II.") ~Laurie Gonzalez, Plainville |
| We attended the Dancing In The Stars fundraiser on February 15, 2008, with a group of eight and everyone had great praise for a wonderful night. The Center Stage Jazz band did an excellent job playing all our favorite tunes. We enjoyed dancing on The Celebrations Unlimited dance hall floor and had plenty of room to float around the hall. One of the highlights of the evening was the raffles that were spaced throughout the evening which kept the guests in suspense. The Ladies and Gents that were the dollar dancers were striking and excellent dancers. We’re still hearing good comments from our friends on what a great time everyone had. You know everyone had a good time because they all stayed till the end and forced the band to continue playing for another 20 minutes or so. Thanks again for a splendid evening. ~Len Bobinski, Southington |
| Your lead Alto Sax man (Bob Blankenburg) is a dear friend of mine. We were Navy Musician buddies many years ago and I was privileged to 'sit in' (at the 1st Tenor Sax chair) for a few minutes with your band during a rehearsal in a gymnasium somewhere there in Plainville. I was enjoying a few days visit with Bob and his lovely wife Marilyn (Lynn) at their then Plainville home. This was shortly after the 911 debacle that took place in Sept. of 2001. The Plainville Wind Ensemble group is surely a winner, and the members I met were very nice to me. I wish you all much success and 'good playing' always. ~Most sincerely, Lyle W. Kirk --- San Antonio, Texas |
| PWE's new website is better than ever! Lots of great information. Eye appealing!!! Interesting! ~Susan M. Yawgel, Cromwell |
| I've been playing with the Plainville Wind Ensemble for over 7 years and we keep getting better every year! We have a great director who puts a new twist on every concert. And our band manager is extremely organized and enthusiastic; I don't know what we'd do without her! ~Donna Fontano, Southington |
